Dandelion

Carved from half of a stem of a large Cedar of Lebanon (the same tree as was used for the Cedar cone), as part of a week of events organised by Communities First in Tredegar. The Dandelion will stand somewhere in there region of 12 foot high once installed, and the stub at the very top will have a large cluster of solar powered lights installed around it, creating a sphere like that of the seed head or dandelion clock. Controlled by a Light Dependant Resistor, the solar panels charge the batteries in the day, then the lights will come on in the evening.

  • Roughed out carving of the Dandelion carving
  • Final touches being applied to the Dandelion carving
  • More and more fine detail being applied to the sculpture
  • The finished carving is being lifted into position with a crane
  • The carving is lowered into the floor with a crane, whilst basking in the sun
